Antarctica Trekking & Sailing Experience

Destiny: Antarctic Peninsula
Activity:Sailing on sailboat, crossing and ascension on Livingstone Island and daily  exploration departures.
Duration: 21 days.

Description:
The idea is we could explore Antarctic Peninsula and cross Livingstone Island  climbing some of its mountains. We depart from Ushuaia, in a 21-meter sailboat, on direction to Antarctic Peninsula. We will need 3 days to cross the Drake Passage, going through the Ocean and getting approach to the mythical Cape Horn. Once we were in the White Continent we will go to Livingstone Island, emerging like a mountain cliff, covered by the glaciers. It is the most beautiful of South Shetland Islands. Our plan is cross the Island from North to South, climbing some of its mountains. During the 4 or 5 days that our adventure takes, the yacht will wait for us on Darwin or Deception Islands. When we board the sailboat again, we´ll continue the next days exploring the Peninsula, its mythical channels, whith the oportuniy to see the animals of the area (all kind of Penguins and Seals, like Leopard Seals, as the most impressive of them). We will also land and do some explorations during the day.  Our return to Ushuaia will be from Antwerp Island, further South, the best choice considering the predominant winds of the area.

Itinerary:

• Day 1: Reception in Ushuaia. Night in a Hotel.
• Days 2, 3 and 4: We embark on Australis, starting our sailing through the Drake
• Day 5: Getting rest on Darwin Island.
• Day 6 to 10: Desembark on Livingstone, and beginning the cross.
• Days 11 to 17: Sailing on South Shetlands Islands area with daily landings  to watch the wildlife and occasional trekkings or any ascension.
• Days 18 to 21: Return to Ushuaia. Last night in Hotel.
• Day 22: Free day in Ushuaia.
• Day 23: Tfr Out

Services Included or Not Included: Transfer in/out, three nights in Hotel in Ushuaia.

Equipment passenger must bring: Backpack (60 liters minimum capcacity), sleeping bag (-20ºC), trekking shoes, synthetic clothe, fleece (or similar), waterproof jacket and rain proof paints;feather jacket, gaiters, gloves, sunglasses (UV filter), trekking poles, flashlight with replacement batteries.

Price per person: USD 12.950.-

No regular departures are available, ask for private trips. The public price is available for groups from 5 to 8 paxs.
